The principle of speed variator
A mechanical speed variator is a gear that continuously changes its output speed. It is used to change the motor’s speed and in scooters, bicycles, snowmobiles, quads, conveyor belts, and metal cutters. A bicycle pedal is a typical example of how this kind of gear works. Each pedal has a different diameter, which affects chain speed.
Speed Variator come in many styles and types. Typically, they have an all-metal construction. Cast iron and stainless steel are ideal materials for this type of machine. Steel-based materials can withstand high temperatures, pressures, and other extreme conditions. Depending on the type of application, you can choose from a variety of brands.
Mechanical speed variator differ from hydraulic transmissions in several ways. First, they use the hydrostatic transmission principle. The second principle involves two pumps – the main pump and an auxiliary pump. The primary pump is a hydraulic radial piston variable pump, and the secondary pump is a fixed displacement hydraulic motor.
The transmission can be manual or electronic. Mechanical transmissions are an inexpensive, lightweight alternative to variable-speed drives. Their open design allows users to see the entire process. Unlike electronic transmissions, mechanical transmissions can also accommodate multiple input types.
Mechanical speed variator work by modulating input torque with output torque. The torque produced by the variable output is proportional to the input torque. When the input and output torques are the same, a mechanical transmission will vary its output speed by certain factors. This means the mechanical transmission can adjust the output speed without adjusting the input voltage.
Mechanical speed variator can be used for a long time and require little maintenance. Some manufacturers offer lifetime lubrication. Mechanical transmissions are an excellent choice for manufacturing and industrial machines because they are more environmentally friendly than fixed-speed motors.
